Beavers' comeback

In the southeast of the capital, not far from the Besedinsky bridges, or more precisely, in the protected area of the coastal pumping station TEC-26, beavers wound up. So, the water in the Moscow River has become cleaner. This is regularly confirmed by data from a nearby automatic water pollution control station, GPEB «Mosekomonitoring».

 

 

The improvement of water quality in the main artery of the city can also be judged by a significant increase in the population of crayfish in recent years. They also live in the neighborhood of beavers, in the area of the same Besedinsky bridges, and especially there are a lot of them in the upper reaches: in the Mnevnikovskaya and Stroginskaya floodplains, Serebryany Bor.

In the case described by us, the place chosen for living by shaggy, furry pets is indicative. After all, it is located practically at the exit of the Moscow River from the city – and not just the city, but an actively and diversified industrial metropolis, where the situation, it would seem, could be fundamentally different in terms of ecology.
